Woods Species: Choose the Wood for Your Cabinets

Wood can vary greatly in color, texture and grain and the characteristics of each wood are part of its unique charm and beauty. We recommend viewing several cabinet door samples on display at our showroom to become familiar with the natural characteristics of the particular wood species and cabinet finish you will select.

Choose from the following selections of woods for your project:

Alder - a close or fine grained wood ideal for light or natural finishes
Pacific Maple - medium density accepts stain and finish beautifully
Birch - heavy, hard and strong with a fine, uniform texture, takes stain and polish extremely well
Oak - uniform beautiful grain accepts stain readily, bringing out unique color variations
Cypress, Sinker Cypress, Re-milled Cypress - straight grain and medium to coarse textures, timeless in both beauty and durability
Maple - a fine, even texture with a natural luster that paints and finishes very well
Cherry - fine textured, strong and regal in color excellent for clear finishes
Paint Grade - economical and free of knots and heavy grain patterns
